I first heard about Tap's Tips in Field and Stream's 100th year anniversary issue which I kept to this day. I like the excerpts from the magazine's distinguished writers especially that of William Tapply's. Excellence is an apt description to everyone of the featured tips. Thanks to Tap's Tips. I have become a better outdoorsman!!!

I'm starting Mr. Tapply's book, "Dark Tiger" with great anticipation knowing that it's one of his last. I'm sorry he was taken from us before his time.

I will always remember meeting Bill in NYC at a book signing. He took to time to chat with me about fishing and how I loved reading his books and the tap tips from his dad. He will be greatly missed. I imagine Phil Craig and Bill are casting to some strippers somewhere above.

I'm so very sorry to hear of Mr. Tapply's passing. I think I have every one of his books. Once I started reading his work, I had to troll used book stores for some of the earlier ones that were out of print. In recent years, I always checked to see when the next one was coming out. He was a wonderful entertaining writer and he'll be sorely missed!

I first made Mr. Tapply's acquaintance when I bought his "Orvis Pocket Guide to Fly Fishing for Bass" which I have read many times. I was astonished a bit later to learn that he wrote wonderful mysteries as well. He enriched my world, and I am deeply saddened that he has left the planet. God speed, sir, and thank you!
