Oh my, oh my. I can't tell you - I believe I learned a long time ago that his son "ran" the website - how much he'll be missed. If even 1% of Mr. Coyne's "living life joyously" was modeled on "Bill," he must have had a good life, and I only wish it could have been longer. I "stand by" my previous post. I don't think Mr. McCall did much more with the HBO series set in Africa than "make a sale." I'd just add that now that Bill's gone, it should be done because of the joy it would/will bring to the folks who've managed to survive him. His passing will make all of our jobs just the tiniest bit harder.

Just finished your fine "Cassie" book. I'm related to authors, so I know how tough a field it is, but you've obviously mastered both the creative & "financial" aspects. Just hoping that you're well represented and that s/he or they are VIGOROUSLY pursuing Mr. Coyne's becoming a TV star. That is, there seems to be an almost insatiable appetite for Jessica Fletchers (to pick a name at random) and now that Showtime needs to program vs. HBO vs. X & Y & Z, "the time is right!"

Today is a sad day for me I found out my faverate writer is gone. I will miss him in more ways than one. I have love the Brady Coyne books and Stony books as well. Being disabled in spending a lot time not able to go out I always enjoyed reading one of his new books.

Mr. Tapply's writings have been a big part of my life. I always knew I could count on him to deliver a "good" read. To his family: My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am so sad to lose Bill Tapply. He goes way back for me to my junior high school years when we used to hang out as a group. Bill was a sweet guy to have around- casual, clear-headed and smart. In high school I loved being on the cheerleading squad to cheer him on in basketball. He was a pleasure to watch on the court and a great starter for the team. Sometimes I’d catch him on the ride home after a game we had lost…. a pensive, thoughtful, somber Bill. My high school boyfriend, Mike, was Bill’s best friend, and sometimes we’d double date in the classic black and white Dodge that Mike drove. Though I didn’t see Bill for a number of years after we graduated, I felt comfortable telling him I was applying for a job at Lexington High School where he was then a Housemaster (an administrator with some teaching responsibilities). As always, he was a curious listener as I described my prospective position. At that point, I’m pretty sure Bill put in a good word for me, as the next thing I knew I was being offered a job. Soon after starting work, Bill pulled me into his office to explain the inner workings of the high school that I’d soon be navigating, and the fact that there’d be no end of politics. This I appreciated greatly since I was starting up a program that was completely new to the high school! I ended up liking the job so much that I am still there….probably all thanks to Bill. Occasionally Bill and I would get together over a quick sandwich in his office. I clearly recall Bill saying he wanted to do more with his writing (early 80’s)….”someday become a mystery writer”. I told him I hoped to do a whole lot with my singing; maybe get the Met?? Well, Bill really did get there…in a very big way. And I’m so happy he did, as we are all the recipients of the treasury of Bill’s creativity and outpouring of mystery literature and writings. I thank Bill for his lovely friendship at various times in my life. I will always remember and miss him. old school friend, Bunny
