I have been reading Bill's work for years. I just read about his passing in Field and Stream today. I will miss him and his writing. My best to his family.

I just finished a Brady Coyne book, and wanted to write and say how much I enjoyed his mentions of Brady's friend J.W. Jackson. I had read about his friendship with Phil Craig. So sad to learn Bill was gone. He and his friend will be long remembered.

I tried to get Bill down to South Carolina for our annual SC Book
Festival a few years back. Sorry that did not work out to introduce to him to many new readers (while he chased redfish again in the SC Lowcountry!). But, his works will endure, in both the outdoors and mystery genres, including the Stoney Calhoun stories that combined both. And I am sure his teaching and mentoring will help produce a new generation of writers, especially those that appreciate his approach of 'writing invisibly'.
I know that Norm Ziegler and I will both think of him whenever we land our next snook on Sanibel Island.

I just checked the website to see when Mr. Tapply's next book would be out and learned of his passing. I have been reading his books for many years and feel like I have lost a very good friend. He sent me signed bookmarks about 5 years ago when I wrote to him. I will treasure them and I will miss both Bill Tapply and Brady Coyne. My sympathies to his family.

I just put in an order for a copy of Dark Tiger and thought I'd check the site for news of a Brady Coyne novel. The news of Mr. Tapply's passing was a shock.

When you've read someone's work for twenty-something years, you begin to feel like you know them

Today it feels like I have lost a friend.

My sincere condolences to the Tapply family and friends
